Bella Romero Sidewalk Project

kids_sidewalk1 A large coalition of interested people exploring the feasibility of retrofitting a sidewalk system leading to Bella Romero Elementary School. The school has a "no bike, no walk" policy because a lacking sidewalk network doesn’t allow children safe travel routes to and from school. Therefore, 100% of the student population is eligible to ride the bus.

The need surfaced when in 2007, Weld County and the City of Greeley embarked on a goal of studying a region of joint interest, East Greeley.  The result was the recently-completed East Greely / Weld County Sub-Area Study.  One of the more significant findings of the study has also resulted in one of the more overt and potentially beneficial initiatives - expanding the sidewalk network for students and residents in the area.
